Tesa (Tesamorelin) is a synthetic growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) peptide. Unlike other GHRH analogs — and even the natural form of the hormone found in the brain — Tesa contains the full GHRH amino acid sequence along with a trans-3-hexenoic group that protects it from enzymatic degradation, enhancing its stability and extending its half-life.
In research, Tesa has been studied for its potential to reduce excess abdominal fat in subjects with HIV-associated lipodystrophy, a condition characterized by abnormal fat distribution often caused by certain HIV medications. These changes may include increased fat in the abdomen and upper back, along with fat loss in the arms and legs. Tesamorelin promotes the release of growth hormone, which plays a key role in regulating fat metabolism.
